The last big industry gathering of the year promises to be a lively affair in Big D at the end of next week. While the exhibit floor will feature beauty queens and exotic animals, the star of NAILBA 29, scheduled for Nov. 18-20, at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas, will be President George W. Bush, just days after the release of his presidential memoir, "Decision Points."
Talk about some fortuitous timing for NAILBA – while the former president has been conspicuously absent from the public eye since leaving the White House two years ago, he is on the verge of major media saturation leading up to his appearance in Dallas. Bush's nationally televised primetime interview this past Monday with "Today Show" host Matt Lauer kicked off the aggressive book tour that will have him dominating network, cable and radio outlets for much of the next two weeks. He'll be on "Oprah," and, of course, make multiple visits to Fox News studios, and a guest slot on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" has him in Los Angeles on Nov. 18, before heading for Dallas.
"Breakfast with Bush" is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20, and he is expected to share candid insight on his eight years in the White House, his experiences with other world leaders, the nature of public leadership and decision-making, and a variety of domestic and international issues.
I don't know if the topic of health care insurance reform will come up, but that could get interesting.
Other keynote speakers scheduled for NAILBA 29 include business iconoclast Tom Peters and entrepreneurial coaching pioneer Dan Sullivan.
