RedBrick Health Corp., a health improvement firm, will be trying a new approach to persuading health plan members to take better care of themselves.

RedBrick, a health status analysis and coaching firm, has acquired Social Kinetics Corp., Danville, Calif.

SRI International, Menlo Park, Calif., a nonprofit research institute, started Social Kinetics to commercialize efforts to use artificial intelligence to spread knowledge throughout social networks.

Social Kinetics separated from SRI in 2008. In 2009, the company began focusing on spreading consumer health knowledge, RedBrick says.

The Social Kinetics "Adaptive Interactive Management System" (AIMS) uses machine learning principles to come up with rules for communicating with each health program participant on the fly, RedBrick says.
