Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company has entered into a contract to buy a site for new offices it wants to build in the San Antonio area.

Nationwide, Columbus, Ohio, says it hopes to close on the deal, for land in Westover Hills, Texas, by the end of the year, and complete construction of the new offices by mid-2012.

Nationwide already employs about 1,000 people in other offices in the San Antonio area. The company hopes to move those jobs into the new offices and add 800 more jobs.

Westover Hills has a population of about 700, and the average per-capita income in the community is the highest in Texas, according to the Census Bureau.
