J.P. Wieske to Take Reins at CAHI

J.P. Wieske is succeeding Merrill Matthews Jr. as executive director of the Council for Affordable Health Insurance.

CAHI, Alexandria, Va., represents health insurers, producers, actuaries, coverage buyers and others who support a market-based approach to improving the U.S. health finance system.

Matthews has been leading CAHI since 2001.

Wieske began working for the council in 2003 as director of state affairs. He previously was a senior government affairs specialist at American Medical Security, Green Bay, Wis., and the chair of the health reform working group at the American Legislative Exchange Council, Washington.

Wieske has a bachelor's degree in political science and economics from Carroll College.
