Seniors speak out: Do you think you'll ever move into a nursing home?

Gosh, I hope not. Mom went into one. It was one of the hardest things our family has had to deal with. I won't lie–we had knockdown arguments about it. Some of us thought it was the right thing. Obviously, other members of the family felt the polar opposite.

Yeah, I do. I've had conversations with my family about it already. I lost my wife a few years ago and I'm alone. I get lonely. I don't want to be a burden with either of my kids and there's a center here in town where the people build a bond. They have lots of activities. I have an older friend who's already moved in there and has real good things to say about it.

That is a question that has come up in our family. My husband and I already live in a 55-plus apartment complex. It's not a nursing home, but there are plenty of people who live here who might be better off they were in a nursing home. They are some of the sweetest ladies you'll ever meet. There's this group of widows and they are just sweet as can be, but one of them is blind and a few others have serious health problems. I would most likely go to a nursing home where I could get better care if I got to that position in life.
