President Obama has changed his schedule and now has no plans to appear at the summer meeting of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

The White House said Thursday that it believed Obama would talk about health system change efforts Tuesday in Seattle, at the summer meeting of the NAIC, Kansas City, Mo.

The White House has now changed Obama's schedule, and he will not be attending the summer meeting, NAIC officials say.

Obama's secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, is a former NAIC president, and two key HHS officials – Jay Angoff, director of the new Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, and Joel Ario, the incoming director of the new health exchange construction team – have also been active the NAIC.
