U.S. workers may be feeling the impact of the weak economy more this year than they were last year, according to Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.

The percentage of workers who say they have experienced a severe financial impact as a result of the weak economy increased to 8% this year, from 5% in 2009, according to Hartford Financial, Hartford (NYSE:HIG).

Hartford published the figures in a summary of results of an online survey of 1,000 U.S. adults ages 18 to 65. Hartford commissioned the survey to investigate participants' views on the economy and stress.

About 74% of the survey participants said the economy has made them more concerned about work, and the percentage who said they are feeling work-related stress has increased to 36%, from 33%.

Hartford also found that 79% of the survey participants have delayed visits to doctors or dentists because of the weak economy.
