Oregon Attorney General John Kroger has issued a note of caution about scam artists attempting to gain personal information in connection with the one-time $250 rebate check for Oregon seniors and Medicare recipients.
The scam artists are calling potential rebate check recipients and asking for personal information over the phone.
The rebate checks, which were made available to qualified recipients under the Affordable Care Act signed by President Barack Obama earlier this year, will be sent automatically and do not require recipients to provide any additional information or take any further action.
