Baird Gets Four Ex-UBS FAs; Team Managers $160 Million

Baird knows how to recruit on its home turf.

It announced today that added four former-UBS advisors, the WE Group, to its Milwaukee office, where the broker-dealer is based.

This brings the number of financial advisors in Baird's largest wealth management office to 60. Previously with UBS, the WE Group brings 50 years of combined industry experience to Baird and is expected to manage some $160 million in assets.

The group includes Paul E. Westphal, John W. Ethington, Dan T. Gilipsky and Tyler Briggs.Westphal previously managed UBS' Milwaukee office. Prior to that, he was a complex manager at UBS and Piper Jaffray.

"These well-respected and talented financial professionals are a strong addition to Baird's home team," said Pat Powell, managing director and branch manager of Baird's Milwaukee wealth management office. in a statement.

Powell added, "This talent addition demonstrates Baird's continued strength and ability to attract top-tier senior talent in Milwaukee and beyond who share our values and client focus."

The firm's private wealth management business continues to grow, having added more than 100 FAs in 2009 and 34 advisors and branch managers since the beginning of 2010 – the vast majority from the four wirehouses.

Baird now includes more than 650 financial advisors, who oversaw more than $58 billion in client assets as of March 31, 2010.
