National Life Group says two of its member insurance companies are rolling out new materials that explain the companies' living benefit rider portfolio.

The riders are available as accelerated benefit options on life policies issued by National Life Insurance Company and Life Insurance Company of the Southwest, according to National Life, Montpelier, Vt.

The new materials include true client stories and a multimedia presentation.

The materials will "help agents focus on life insurance beyond the death benefit, while their clients are living," according to Matt DeSantos, a vice president at National Life.

The riders let life policyholders access policy death benefits for financial assistance in event of terminal, chronic, or critical illness, or if the policyholder needs experimental treatment, the company says. There is no additional cost for the riders, and no restriction on use of the benefits received.
