A health plan cost management firm is offering access to a provider network managed by a unit of Coventry Health Care Inc. (NYSE:CVH).
Premier Healthcare Exchange Inc., Bedminster, N.J., which operates as PHX, says the alliance will give clients access to the First Health provider network, which has contracts with 4,900 hospitals and about 500,000 doctors.
Plans can use the network for covered services inside and outside the usual service area, PHX says.
PHX will submit claims to the First Health network using electronic data interchange systems.
