A unit of MetLife Inc. has introduced a dual-option dental plan aimed at businesses with 25 to 499 employees.

MetLife, New York (NYSE:MET), says the Back to the BASICs plan offers coverage for basic services such as exams, sealants and fillings for a low monthly premium. Employees who are willing to pay more can get access to more comprehensive coverage, including coverage for orthodontia services, with lower deductibles and higher annual maximums.

All plan participants have access to the MetLife dental provider network.

In other group benefits news, Aetna Inc., Hartford (NYSE:AET), is introducing a family of health plans aimed at small employers in North Carolina.

The plans cover preventive services, such as well-child visits and routine adult physical exams, without charging members a co-payment.

Aetna is selling the plans through agents and brokers.

The product menu includes health maintenance organization and point-of-service plans as well as preferred provider organization plans, and many of the plans can be used together with health savings accounts or health reimbursement arrangements, Aetna says.
