The Insurance Marketplace Standards Association says it can help member insurers and non-member insurers cope with the rise of services such as Facebook and Twitter.

IMSA, Bethesda, Md., has developed an IMSA Social Media Policy Template for use in the annuity, life insurance and long term care insurance markets.

IMSA also is working on social media monitoring and testing guidance and a social media training program, the group says.

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, Washington, released a social media regulatory notice aimed at participants in the securities industry earlier this year, IMSA Notes.

"IMSA is working to ensure that the life insurance marketplace is provided with the same type of guidance," the group says.
