About 53% of U.S. employers now have environmentally conscious, "green" programs in place, up from 43% a year ago.

Consultants at Buck Consultants, New York, a unit of Xerox Corp., Norwalk, Conn., have published that finding in a summary of results from a recent survey of about 100 U.S. Employers.

Buck found room for benefits advisors and benefits vendors to expand their participation in green programs: 95% of the employers that said they have green programs reported having recycling and paper reduction programs in place, but only 57% said they are using online summary plan descriptions.
