An insurance company has helped fund a 1-hour PBS special aimed at helping children and their families cope with the death of a parent.

New York Life Insurance Company, New York, has helped a production team that includes Sesame Workshop, New York – the company that makes "Sesame Street" – and Worldwide Pants Inc., New York – the company that produces David Letterman's talk show – create "When Families Grieve."

PBS will premiere the 1-hour television special at 8 p.m. EDT April 14.

Sesame Street also will be making 1 million free multimedia kits available to families and grief service providers starting April 15.

Families can order the kits at http://www.sesamestreet.org/grief

The effort will include a version of the kit aimed at the general public and a kit aimed at military families.
