Adding a Super Bowl Quarterback

A lot of advisory firms will use sports language to talk about their businesses, using phrases like "teammate," or "playing the game," or "acting as the client's quarterback." Well Constellation Wealth Advisors has taken that figurative language and made it literal with the addition of Steve Bono as a firm principal. Bono, who played quarterback in the NFL from 1985 to 1999, including five years with the San Francisco 49ers, will be responsible for ultra-high-net-worth business development and based in the Menlo Park office.

Prior to joining Constellation, Bono was a principal with ThinkEquity Partners in San Francisco and before that a vice president of market development with Bank of America Private Bank. He retired from the NFL in 2000, and the next year joined his former 49ers teammates Harris Barton, Ronnie Lott and Joe Montana at venture capital, private equity and real estate fund of funds Champion Ventures (the predecessor to HRJ Capital). At Champion he was primarily involved with business development, investor relations and the structuring of a fund.
