Health Bits: CIGNA, Companion Global, Golden Rule

CIGNA International has added 47,000 health care facilities in Africa to its CIGNALinks Africa provider network.

The facilities are in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and Morocco, according to CIGNA International, Claymont, Del., a unit of CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia (NYSE:CI).

In other health insurance news:

- IDMI Systems Inc., Warner Robins, Ga., an insurance industry software vendor, has added an international medical travel program from Companion Global Healthcare Inc., Columbia, S.C., to its health plan.

The network includes 29 hospitals and 4 dental clinics outside the United States.

Companion is a unit of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina, Columbia, S.C.

- Golden Rule Insurance Company, Indianapolis, a unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn. (NYSE:UNH), has updated its health savings account website, at http://www.hsacenter.com

The updated site includes information about the 2009 and 2010 deductibles, contribution limits and out-of-pocket maximums.

The site also offers calculators for estimating possible health insurance savings, tax savings and future value, and it provides audio, video and Flash HSA presentations
