The average cost of U.S. home health care has increased just 2.5% this year, to $20.50 per hour, according to the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance.

The AALTCI, Westlake Village, Calif., notes that 1 year of home care can cost a total of about $35,000.

Hourly home health aide costs range from $16 in Miami up to $28 in Boston.

About 42% of current recipients of private LTC insurance benefits are using the benefits to pay for home care, the AALTCI says.
