Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner Joel Ario is considering proposed rules that would require at least 8 hours of state-approved training for producers who sell long term care insurance in the state.
LTC producers would also have to complete at least 4 hours of added accredited training every 2 years under the plan.
The courses would have to cover LTC insurance, LTC services and, for agents selling LTC insurance partnership policies, the rules governing sales of partnership policies in the state. Other topics in the curriculum would include alternatives to private LTC insurance, the importance of LTC benefits inflation protection, and LTC insurance consumer suitability standards.
