Here's something pretty cool: Life Insurance Selling – or more specifically www.lifeinsuranceselling.com – is the No. 1-ranked result on Google when anyone searches using the term selling insurance. Try it for yourself and you'll see our Web site come up as the very first search result, just below the sponsored links.

Anyone who knows anything about Search Engine Optimization knows how important it is to appear on the first page of search results, as only about 25% of searchers ever make it to the second page of results, and less than 3% of them will click on a result past the first page (despite there being "107,000,000″ results for the term selling insurance).

How did our site achieve the top ranking? Our site is simply the most relevant to that term, and you'll find more content about "selling insurance" than anywhere else, which gets searched more than 33,000 times per month according to Google. (we're also among the top couple of results for the terms selling life insurance, insurance selling and obviously, tops for life insurance selling). It is the core of what we're about.

We make no secret that the team at Life Insurance Selling is doing the best we can to promote our Web site, which was dramatically redesigned last summer. Coming from admittedly modest numbers pre-redesign, we have grown traffic exponentially thanks to new components on the home page. Among them are "Today's Features," which are updated each weekday with the latest in life and health insurance-related news as well as interesting and relevant articles and videos; "Web Exclusives," where articles that don't appear in the printed magazine are featured (and updated frequently) along with occasional major "breaking news" items; a trio of blogs from myself and columnists Richard Hoe, ChFC, CLU, AEP and David Saltzman, RHU, DIA; and more.
