According to the AARP and Centers for Disease Control (courtesy of the Bradenton Herald), after age 67:
Only 12 percent of baby boomers who have been low-income wage earners are likely to work.
Among higher-income boomers, 45 percent will continue working.
The lower-income group will depend upon Social Security for 60 percent of its income.
Those boomers who have contributed the most to Social Security will rely upon the program for only 32 percent of their income.
Eighty percent of the 65-plus population suffers from at least one chronic medical condition; 50 percent have at least two.
