Woodbury Financial Services, Oakdale, Minn., has named Patrick McEvoy as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. In this role, McEvoy is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership of the broker-dealer, which has over 1,700 registered representatives and 200 home office employees.

McEvoy will report to Brian Murphy, Woodbury's current chairman and chief executive officer, who also serves as executive vice president of The Hartford's Individual Life Division. Murphy will remain Woodbury's chairman of the board.

"We are thrilled that Pat has chosen Woodbury," said Murphy. "His past experience as a registered rep makes him uniquely suited to this role. His vast knowledge of the financial services industry and understanding of the independent rep business make him an invaluable resource and his leadership will help ensure Woodbury's continued success as a leading broker-dealer."

"I am delighted to join Woodbury, a firm that is so committed to helping its reps build successful businesses," said McEvoy. "This is an exciting time in our industry. The importance of independent, objective financial advice continues to grow and I look forward to leading this organization through all the opportunities that lie ahead."

McEvoy has more than 19 years of experience in leadership; recruiting and business development; growth and retention of reps; compliance and regulatory matters; and investment and product marketing in the broker-dealer industry. He has also been a wholesaler at PLM Securities and Brauvin Securities, and a registered representative at Thomson McKinnon/Merrill Lynch.

He holds Series 7, 24 and 63 licenses and is a licensed Insurance Producer for variable products, accident, health and life. From 1982 to 1985, McEvoy was a member of the military police with the U.S. Army, from which he received an honorable discharge.
