A company has introduced a system that can help users analyze commercial health plan claims risk.

The new Actuarial Advisor system can help health care actuaries and underwriters with tasks such as pricing coverage, evaluating plan designs, and developing new products, according to Verisk Health Inc., Waltham, Mass., a unit of Verisk Analytics Inc., Jersey City, N.J.

Verisk Health developed the product together with Windsor Strategy Partners L.L.C., Princeton Junction, N.J., an actuarial firm.

The product draws from a database that contains information about 3 million commercial health plan members.

Verisk can host the basic version of the product on its own computers or let customers have that version in spreadsheet form.

A "power user" version, aimed mainly at pricing actuaries, is available in spreadsheet form.
