A new ad campaign, aimed at the districts of 78 members of the House of Representatives, began last week as a stand against potential cuts to Medicare.
The campaign includes a 30-second television ad featuring citizens asking Congress not to cut Medicare. Additionally, phone calls are planned to target members of the House of Representatives as well as citizens within the 78 specific districts.
The bill, which proposes an additional $500 billion in cuts from Medicare, was met with uproar from the sponsor of the campaign, the 60 Plus Association. Jim Martin, president of the organization, was quoted as saying, "This bill adds 111 entitlements and the only one it cuts is Medicare, how is this fair to our greatest generation? Seniors have already lost their Social Security COLA… Seniors are taking a stand and say 'Don't cut our Medicare.'"
