We belonged to a dance club and she was a member. And then we talked to her about some investments, and we have stayed with that same firm, even after she retired. They seem to be concerned about our welfare.

John H., 75 Fort Madison, Iowa

I think it was from solicitation. I've been with him since about 1996. I retired in 1992 and I was working on my retirement, not only my pension from my company, but also other investments that would solidify my retirement.

Norman Y., 75 Salem, Ore.

I met him at the senior center. He comes here weekly, I believe. But all of my financial activities were done long ago and I gave to the children what could be. And for the little bit that I have in stock, I didn't need any advice, particularly.

Mary M., 83 Chicago, Ill.

My best financial advisor was my father. And he never lost a penny buying property. I took his advice and as soon as I was able to do so, I bought a house in 1971. That was the best financial investment I made.

Louis U., 76 Chatsworth, Calif.
