Health Can Affect Finances: MetLife

A life insurer's study finds that 59% of people who evaluate their medical health as fair or poor say they live paycheck to paycheck, compared to 34% of people in very good or excellent health who say so.

MetLife Inc., New York, also found 70% of people who view their medical health as fair or poor say they are very concerned about making ends meet, compared to 52% of people in very good or excellent health.

Moreover, 76% of people who think their health is fair or poor are very concerned about affording health care in retirement, compared to 57% of people in very good or excellent health.

MetLife's research has found that 33% of employers offer some type of wellness program to help improve their employees' health, up from 27% in 2005.
