A Mid-Atlantic state might require state-regulated health insurers to pay for members to consult with doctors and other care providers over the telephone.

The Virginia Special Advisory Commission on Mandated Health Insurance Benefits has included a telehealth proposal on the agenda for its next meeting.

The advisory commission plans to meet at 10 a.m. Nov. 17 in Richmond, Va.

In addition to the telehealth proposal, the commission plans to vote on a second proposal that would require coverage for amino acid-based elemental formulas.
