Genworth Financial Inc. is offering shares with a value of about $500 million to the public.
The company plans to use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, according to Genworth, Richmond, Va.
The investment banks managing the sale have an option to buy about $75 million in additional stock; Genworth says.
