Advisors and investors who want an extra degree of certainty about the trustworthiness of a fund management firm can check to see if that firm is certified by the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence in Toronto.
CEFEX in the last several years has begun certifying investment fiduciaries (as well as financial advisors, broker-consultants, investment consultants, wealth managers, financial consultants, trust officers and financial planners) according to a rigorous set of stewardship standards. "It's similar to a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval," explains Blaine Aikin of Fiduciary360, an organization that helped CEFEX develop the certification standards and developed the training programs that lead to the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA) designations.
