Baker To Head MDRT

The Million Dollar Round Table has a new leader.

Guy E. Baker, a managing director of BTA Advisory Group, Irvine, Calif., has assumed the presidency of the MDRT for the 2009-2010 term. He succeeds the outgoing president, Walton Rogers, manager of W. Rogers & Associates of Annapolis, Md.

MDRT, Park Ridge, Ill., is an association of financial professionals with more than 31,000 members from 84 countries. Founded in 1927, the membership totals than 1% of an estimated 3.1 million-plus insurance and financial services professionals worldwide.

Baker is a 4-year member of the MDRT executive committee. Other members are immediate past president Walton W. Rogers, first vice president Julian H. Good Jr., second vice president Jennifer A. Borislow and secretary D. Scott.

For 2009-2010, MDRT said its priorities include promoting the practice of mentoring among life insurance and financial services professionals and helping members through a "Whole Person" initiative to achieve a better work-life balance.

In the upcoming year, MDRT will begin a national program to emphasize the importance of financial literacy among a public rebounding from recession, Baker said. Members will be equipped to hold educational seminars on basic financial concepts in cooperation with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
