American International Group Inc. has picked Harvey Golub to be chairman of the board.
Golub, 70, will take that post Aug. 10, when current AIG Chairman Edward Liddy retires, according to AIG, New York.
AIG has named Robert Benmosche, the former chairman of MetLife Inc., New York, to be chief executive officer.
"It is critical that we preserve and protect the value that has been built over the course of decades in AIG, a unique global franchise," Golub says in a statement. "The entire board and I are committed to working with Bob and the management team to deliver maximum value to all of our stakeholders."
