Brooks To Lead NAIC Panel

The executive committee at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners has named Kermitt Brooks chair of the NAIC's Life Insurance and Annuities Committee.

Brooks, who is now acting superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department, previously was the department's first deputy superintendent, and he also supervised the department's life bureau.

Before joining the insurance department, Brooks was the deputy attorney general in charge operations at the New York State attorney general's office.

Brooks also has been a counsel in the law department at MetLife Inc., New York.

Brooks has a bachelor's degree in international relations from Michigan State University and a law degree from the University of Michigan.
