The chairman of NAVA Inc. will be representing the interests of independent dealers and insurance affiliates on the board of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Mark Casady, who took over as chairman of NAVA, Reston, Va., in November 2008, now holds the independent dealer-insurance seat on the board of FINRA, Washington.

Casady succeeds John Simmers of the ING Advisors Network, an arm of ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam, who resigned from the FINRA board earlier this year.

Casady, chairman of LPL Financial Corp., San Diego, said in October 2008 at NAVA's annual meeting that the speed of change occurring in the financial services industry last fall had been remarkable.

"It's tough for all of us, to watch," Casady said at the time. "But it is important for us to get behind whatever the new normal will be."
