A large group life program is adding funeral planning benefits.
Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, is getting the Life Conversations funeral planning services from Everest Funeral Package L.L.C., Houston.
Hartford will offer the planning services at no additional cost to workers enrolled in employer-sponsored group life plans.
Group life plan participants can use the program to plan for funerals in advance as well as to make arrangements around the time of death.
Everest says its funeral advisors can negotiate funeral costs and save a family about $1,250 to $5,500.
The Hartford alliance will make the Everest funeral planning services available to about 20 million group plan participants and dependents, Hartford estimates.
