Barnes Rises At Presidential

A Northeastern insurer has implemented a step in its succession plan strategy.

Donald Barnes, 65, is now president and chief executive officer of Presidential Life Corp., Nyack, N.Y., a company that sells fixed deferred and immediate annuity products.

Herbert Kurz, who has been the chairman of Presidential, continues to hold that title.

Barnes has been president of the main Presidential operating subsidiary, Presidential Life Insurance Company, since 2000. He began working for Presidential Life as the unit's chief marketing officer in 1995.

Barnes has a bachelor's degree from Westmar College and a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter professional designation.
