Government agencies are seeking nominations for members for a new Children's Health Insurance Program Working Group.
The Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act directs the secretary of Health and Human Services and the secretary of Labor to establish a Medicaid, CHIP, and Employer-Sponsored Coverage Coordination Working Group, which is now being called the "CHIP Working Group," officials at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Employee Benefits Security Administration write in a notice published today in the Federal Register.
CMS is an arm of the Department of Health and Human Services, and EBSA is an am of the Labor Department.
The working group is supposed to develop a model coverage coordination disclosure form for employer-sponsored group health plan administrators, to help state health plans avoid crowding out commercial group coverage for children; to identify barriers to coordinating public and commercial group coverage for children; and to submit a report on strategies for coping with barriers to coordination, along with the model group plan notice, to the secretaries of Labor and HHS by Aug. 5, 2010.
