An insurer will be helping group long-term disability claimants who return to work pay for child care and elder care.

Lincoln National Corp., Radnor, Pa., now is offering a Family Care Reimbursement Benefit rider along with its group LTD products.

When a claimant returns to work, the rider can pay a direct cash reimbursement for each eligible dependent, and that amount can be paid even if a claimant already is receiving the maximum LTD plan benefit, Lincoln says.

Combined with the Lincoln Progressive Partial Disability Benefit, the rider can give an employee who is returning to work a chance to collect more than 100% of their pre-disability income, Lincoln says.

The Progressive Income benefit increases benefits amounts for insureds who suffer from especially serious disabilities.

The definition of "dependent" includes the insured's spouse and parents as well as dependent children, Lincoln says.

Benefits are available both to individuals who are partially disabled and to individuals who suffer a cognitive impairment, are terminally ill, or suffer the loss of 2 or more ADLs.
