Personnel Changes: N.Y. Life, ACE, Others

New York Life Insurance Company has promoted Chris Blunt and Mark Pfaff to executive vice president.

New York Life Insurance Company has promoted Chris Blunt and Mark Pfaff to executive vice president.

Blunt, who previously was a senior vice president, is responsible for retirement income security.

Pfaff, who also was a senior vice presidents, over sees U.S. life insurance and agency.

Blunt has a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in business from the University of Pennsylvania.

Pfaff has an associate's degree from Westchester Community College and a bachelor's degree from Manhattan College.

In related news, New York Life International L.L.C., New York Life's international unit, has hired Danny Lam to be chief executive officer for New York Life Insurance Taiwan Corp. He previously was executive vice president, marketing and agency, at ING Life Taiwan, a unit of ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam.

Lam has a degree in mathematics from the University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.

In other personnel news:

- ACE Tempest Life Re USA, New York, a unit of ACE Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda, has promoted Leonard Mangini to senior vice president and chief actuary-risk officer.

Mangini previously was vice president and chief actuary.

He has a bachelor's degree in math and physics from the State University of New York-Stony Brook and a master's degree in computational finance from New York University.

Mangini is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriters.

ACE Tempest also has hired Thomas Hartlett to be vice president and chief administrative officer; Robert Gandjean to be vice president and chief pricing officer; and M. Cristina Downey to be vice president and chief underwriting officer.

The executives previously worked for XL Life Re America, a unit of XL Capital Ltd., Hamilton, Bermuda.

- CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, has promoted Robert Hughes to financial officer at CIGNA HealthCare.

Hughes previously was chief financial officer of CIGNA's CIGNA International unit.

- Longfellow Benefits L.L.C., Boston, has promoted David Boucher to senior vice president, corporate benefit services, from vice president.

Boucher has a bachelor's degree in finance from Providence College. He holds the Certified Financial Planner and Accredited Investment Fiduciary professional designations.

Boucher is chair of the fundraising committee at the Kennedy-Donovan Center, which serves Massachusetts residents with developmental disabilities

- Securian Financial Group, a unit of Minnesota Mutual Insurance Companies Inc., St. Paul, Minn., has announced a number of promotions.

Wilford Kavanaugh was promoted to senior vice president, individual distribution management, from vice president.

Employees promoted to vice president include David LePlavy, Anthony Martins and Paul Rudeen.
