Web Bits: Aetna, Humana, Others

Aetna Inc. is expanding the amount of detailed health care provider cost information it is putting on the Web.

Aetna, Hartford, now posts cost information for audiologists, chiropractors, occupational therapists, optometrists, physical therapists, podiatrists, speech pathologists and speech therapists in some markets.

Aetna also is expanding the reach of its provider cost database to include service areas in more states, including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.

In other benefits Web news:

- Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., has released Spanish-language versions of three of its Stay Smart, Stay Healthy health education videos.

The English-language videos in the series have attracted 1.1 million YouTube hits since the series started in November 2008, Humana says.

The Spanish-language videos, which answer questions about the cost of health care, the cost of drugs, and how health insurance works, are available here.

- United Concordia, Harrisburg, Pa., a unit of Highmark Inc., Pittsburgh, has updated its Find a Dentist Web site search tool.

In addition to using the tool to find dentists, users now can use the tool to get directions to a dentist's office, United Concordia says.

The tool also gives users the ability to sort dentists by name, distance or specialty and to compare attributes such as gender or languages spoken.

- Norvax Inc., Chicago, the parent of GoHealthInsurance.com, has set up a COBRA Information Center that U.S. workers who have lost employer-sponsored group coverage can use to learn about COBRA and alternatives to COBRA continuation benefits, such as individual health insurance.
