A health insurer is opening a large senior service center in the Lone Star State.

UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn., already is starting to set up the Ovations service center in Harlingen, Texas, and it hopes to have the center up and running by August, according to UnitedHealth and officials with the Harlingen Economic Development Corp.

The service center will start with more than 100 employees and could employee about 700 workers by 2014, officials say.

UnitedHealth will be putting the service center in an empty, 55,000-square-foot supermarket building.

UnitedHealth will spend $6 million on renovating and equipping the building, Harlingen officials say.
