A Dutch insurer has announced a change at the top.

Rob Routs will be succeeding Dudley Eustace as chairman of the supervisory board at AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands, in April 2010, the company says.

Eustace's current term is set to end this spring, but the AEGON board has asked him to stay on as chairman for an additional year to ensure continuity, the company says.

Routs, 62, previously was an executive director at Royal Dutch Shell P.L.C., The Hague. He joined the AEGON board in 2008.

Routs has a bachelor's degree from the Technological University at Eindhoven, Netherlands. He is a member of the board of INSEAD and sits on the Economic Development Board of Singapore International Advisory Council.
