AvMed Inc. has introduced the AvMed Individual Health high-deductible individual and family health insurance plans.

AvMed, Miami, which does business as AvMed Health Plans, says the new plans will be available to residents of Dade and Broward counties.

The plans are especially designed for people between jobs, early retirees and others in need of low-cost, basic coverage, and the plans are available in child-only versions for Miami residents ages 2 to 17.

The plans come with a $5 million lifetime maximum benefit.

Preventive care is not subject to the deductible, and the plans are linked to personal health savings accounts, AvMed says.
