? NAVA announced the election of Mark Casady, chairman and CEO of LPL Financial Services, as the chairman of its board. Casady replaces Clifford Jack, executive VP and chief distribution officer of Jackson National Life, who will remain on the NAVA board until the conclusion of his three-year term in late 2009. NAVA also announced that James Shepherdson, AXA Equitable, has been named vice chair, and Robert Arena, Hartford Life, Inc., and Christopher Grady, Genworth Financial, have been elected to the NAVA board. The new Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Board Members were officially ratified by the NAVA membership at NAVA's 2008 Annual Meeting, in Philadelphia. ? The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) announced at its annual conference in Washington in October that Stephen Dobrow, president of Primark Benefits, has become its new president. The ASPPA also seated four new members of its board of directors–Donna Brewster, Mark Davis, Norman Levinrad, and Lynn Young.

? American Century Investments announced that Steven Brown joined the firm as vice president and senior portfolio manager for the $880 million American Century Real Estate Fund. Effective November 17, Brown will manage the portfolio previously subadvised by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. Prior to joining American Century Investments, Brown spent six years as Neuberger Berman's global head of real estate securities.
