Producers who handle disability insurance should know about a new Social Security American program aimed at people with certain catastrophic health problems.
Lawyers at Crowe Paradis L.L.C., Wakefield, Mass., have described the SSA Compassionate Allowances program in a new client bulletin.
The program is supposed to speed up the notoriously slow SSDI decisionmaking process for applicants who have rare, serious diseases and cancers that are relatively easy to diagnose, document and assess, Crowe Paradis lawyers write.
The SSA is promising to make SSDI benefits decisions for those applicants within about 20 days.
