Prudential Financial Inc. has hired Sara Bonesteel to run "efforts to identify new opportunities for structured asset management" at its fixed income management business.
Bonesteel will be in charge of developing "financing strategies and relationships for its many businesses, including its hedge strategy, collateralized debt obligations and insurance businesses," according Prudential, Newark, N.J.
Bonesteel previously was a senior managing director at the financial analytics and structured transactions unit at Bear Stearns & Company Inc., New York.
She has a bachelor's degree in English from Georgetown University and a master's degree in business from Columbia University.

- Hartford Life, Simsbury, Conn., a unit of Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, has hired Stephan Schinnenburg to be general manager of its German branch.
The branch hopes to begin selling variable annuities in Germany in early 2009.
Schinnenburg previously was head of sales and marketing for IDEAL Lebensversicherung, Berlin, a company that sells insurance products to people older than 50.
- Conseco Inc., Carmel, Ind., has hired Grace Cowan to be senior vice president of operations.
Cowan previously was a senior vice president at the consulting arm of Aon Corp., Chicago, and national director of Aon Consulting's life, disability and elective benefits practice.
Cowan has a bachelor's degree in business from Northern Illinois University and a law degree from the University of Iowa.
- UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn., has hired James Campbell to be a special advisor to the company's charitable giving initiatives and chairman of the United Health Foundation.
Campbell previously was chairman of Wells Fargo Minnesota, Minneapolis, a unit of Wells Fargo & Company, San Francisco.
