A pharmacy benefit management firm is providing e-prescription information to physicians in Rhode Island through Blue Cross & Blue Shield Rhode Island.
WellPoint NextRx says its SureScripts-RxHub network will reduce the time subscribing physicians in Rhode Island spend managing prescriptions. The system also encourages physicians to adopt and use electronic health records, says WellPoint NextRx, Thousand Oaks, Calif., a unit of WellPoint Inc., Indianapolis.
With a connection to its SureScripts-RxHub, NextRx can link electronically with physicians and providers who e-prescribe, providing real-time pharmacy information before prescriptions are written, which the company says would reduce medical errors.
The system can provide information on eligibility, formulary reports, and medication history, says NextRx.
