Pitti has been a member of FPA and its predecessor organizations since 1969.

He is the founding director of the Financial Services Institute in the Tobin College of Business at St. John's University in New York where he also serves as an adjunct professor of finance.

Former winners of the award include Charles Hughes, Jack Blankinship, Bill Anthes, Bill Carter, Dick Wagner, and last year's winner, E. Denby Brandon. Brandon founded Brandon Organizations in Memphis in 1952 with his father. He also wrote A History of the Financial Planning Movement with Oliver Welch.

Pitti will be recognized at FPA's annual conference in Boston October 4-7.
