MedcomSoft Inc., Toronto, announced that it has been chosen by the Maryland Health Care Commission to participate in the Maryland Electronic Health Record adoption acceleration program.

The MHCC is an independent state regulatory agency that seeks to advance statewide adoption of health information technology under a program developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

The MHCC, in collaboration with the Maryland and DC Medical Societies, is participating in a demonstration project for CMS, along with Louisiana; Pittsburgh, Pa. and surrounding counties; and South Dakota and surrounding counties in Iowa, Minnesota, and North Dakota.

MedcomSoft, Toronto, says it will use its technology to help MHCC provide comprehensive patient information to medical organizations, associations, facilities and physician practices to promote the program and assist physicians in the transition to electronic health records.
