America's Health Insurance Plans is mobilizing a grassroots campaign to try to get Congress to stabilize funding for the Medicare Advantage program.

Some members of Congress want to cut Medicare Advantage funding and use the money saved to pay to ward off Medicare physician reimbursement cuts that are set to take effect today.

The Coalition for Medicare Choices, an grassroots organization that has signed up 400,000 seniors, will be asking seniors to contact lawmakers to oppose cuts in Medicare Advantage funding, according to AHIP, Washington.

AHIP also is airing a national cable television advertising campaign highlighting the controversy Congress triggered when it last cut Medicare Advantage funding, AHIP says.
