American Community Mutual Insurance Company has updated the list of major medical products it is selling to individuals and families in Texas.

American Community, Livonia, Mich., says Texas products now include the Medalist II plan, a conventional preferred provider organization plan; the Next Generation HSA high-deductible PPO plan, which is qualified for use in health savings account programs; and the Triple Tier PPO plan, which uses a 3-tier reimbursement system to hold down costs.

The menu also includes the company's unusual Coverage On Demand PPO plan, which permits customers to buy relatively low amounts of coverage for routine medical expenses, then buy more coverage – even after they already have developed serious health problems – if they need more coverage.

The network supporting the plans includes about 33,000 Texas doctors, American Community says.

American Community will be selling all 4 plans in Texas, through independent agents, starting July 1, the company says.
